Community Event: Presentation “A Watery Kingdom Transformed: York River and the Piscataqua Region Through Time”

October 4, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free event, open to all.  No RSVP needed. York Community Auditorium @ York High School.

In this presentation, speaker Jeff Bolster, author and UNH Professor, reconstructs centuries of the human and ecological history of our region. It is a tantalizing tale, from the retreat of the glaciers to Native settlement, English arrival, and the fishing, lumbering, sheep-raising, manufacturing, tourism, and suburbanization that defined this place in different eras. Now, with increasing human population and pressure on local ecosystems, the York River and other waterways face distinctive challenges. With its attention to the backstory, this provocative presentation provides perspective on the issues we face.
